INHERITANCE KITCHEN
A super collaboration produced by Japanese Arts Network, James Brunt, Dyfferent Media, Opia House, and Starry Night Productions
You are cordially invited to the grand opening of a new pop up cafe in Sakura Square - BLOCK PARTY! This counterculture cafe, run by families that have lived in Five Points for generations, promises to surprise and delight as you sip and chat in what was once an old dental office.
But by now you may suspect that the cafe is more than it seems.
What was that flash of light?
That slight shift in the atmosphere?
Is that … music you hear?
Where does this strange door lead?
Do you dare find out?
Inheritance Kitchen invites audiences into stories inspired by true events from Denver’s Five Points neighborhood occurring in one (fictional) house across seven decades from the 1960’s to present day. This interactive production encourages exploration which leads to deeper understanding as memories come alive in unexpected ways. We place you in the center of the house’s stories and ask you to embrace food as a love language and to share in the resilience, childlike wonder, and cultural inheritance that only family can create.
